Job Purpose

This role is responsible for the successful operations of the entire plant and production team, ensuring our customers get exceptional, quality products, on time and within the allocated budget while adhering with all health and safety regulations.

 

As a member of the leadership team and an advocate for an enhancing company culture, this role is also responsible for creating and sustaining a high-performance culture that leads to the achievement of corporate and departmental goals for our Print & Packaging Divisions.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Strategic Planning & Execution

  •   Responsible for the execution of the Company Strategic Plan and the ongoing development and execution of corporate and departmental goals, ensuring that all targets are achieved or surpassed.
  •   Responsible for Monthly Leadership Reports & Quarterly Board Reports
  •   Develop and manage all Production Budgets

 

Leadership & Performance & Training  

  •   Develop a high performing team through the establishment of a positive team environment supported by authentic leadership and clear communication with empowers and inspires employees.
  •   Development a learning environment, one where employees are motivated to learn new techniques and creating process improvements.
  •   Conduct Departmental Performance Reviews and create Development Plans, with a focus on the Production Office, Press and Bindery employees.
  •   Creating Training Plans for the department ensure that training material is created to ensure consistency with processes.
  •   In collaboration with HR deal with any necessary disciplinary issues
  •   Provide back up support in the absence of the Operations Manager to ensure that the internal and external customer experience is a positive one.
  • Plan and conduct regular meetings to share successes, best practices and solutions

 

Internal Customer Experience

  •   Enhance the Internal Customer experience to the Sales Team, ensuring that they have the ability to win jobs and the information they need to communicate effectively with the customer.
  •   Provide solutions and recommendations for customer related problems in collaboration with the Executive Manager Sales and Marketing to enhance SCRIP-J’s customer experience.
  •   Go on customer visits to enhance the customer experience and to provide guidance and solutions.

 

Production & Scheduling Efficiency

  •   Collaborate with the Operations Manager to enhance overall productivity of the Production department, increasing efficiencies and reducing costs.
  •   Enhance productivity standards and metrics.
  •   Prioritize reducing spoilage and departmental overtime.
  •   Walk the floor daily, anticipating and removing bottlenecks and providing guidance and clarity.
  •   Ensure on-time production of finished products for delivery.
  •   Update production process flows, procedures and policies. 
  •   Continuously review production management systems and processes with the objective of improving efficiencies and minimizing both direct and indirect costs.
  •   Collaborate with the warehouse department to ensure that stock is ready before the job is scheduled.
  •   Work collaboratively with the Purchasing & Warehouse departments to ensure that stock levels match the current needs of Production and are available in time for all jobs.

 

Quality Assurance

  •   Ensure a Quality Assurance process is in place, reducing all costs related to errors.
  •   Responsible for the management of the Non- Conformance Process and determining the effective suggested solutions (training, process improvements, disciplinary action) to ensure that the error is not repeated.
  •   Facilitate technical improvements within the department to ensure efficiency of machines and processes.
  •   Ensuring proper Waste Management of raw materials and consumables

 

Maintenance & Repairs

  •   Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure the timely execution of all Preventive & Scheduled Annual, Monthly and Daily Maintenance Plans for all Presses and equipment.
  •   Enhance current external service providers service, with the goal of increasing production, reducing downtime and enhancing response times.
  •   Sources new service providers as the need arises.

 

Research and Development

  •   Responsible for the Research and Development of new Equipment & Products.
  •   Stay informed about industry trends and best practices related to labour optimization and operational efficiencies.
  •   Identify new opportunities within the market and lead the development of innovative products.

 

 

Health, Safety & Environment

  •   Responsible for enforcing adherence to the regulations set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Trinidad and Tobago
  •   Work collaboratively with other Leaders and employees on the HSE committee ensuring the execution of all HSE solutions and strategies.
  •   Responsible for keeping Production accident-free.
  •   Ensure the physical environment is always kept clean.

QUALIFICATIONS

  •   5 - 10 years’ experience as a Production Manager or in a similar leadership role
  •   Degree in industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering, business or related field
  •   Experience in leading a team of 40+
  •   Experience in an ISO certified environment is an asset.
  •   Proficiency in MS Office and ERP software

WORKING CONDITIONS

  •   Factory Environment (will require answering calls and troubleshooting during nights and weekends)
  •   Must be willing to work after hours and on weekends to handle any urgent matters.
