Job Purpose

The Digital Systems Operator is responsible for setting up and operating digital machinery and devices according to written and/or verbal instructions, established company procedures, safety, and quality guidelines.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

PRODUCTION

  • Receive production order and job assignments from supervisor
  • Read job order to verify substrate and quantity to be printed and check material to be trimmed against production order for accuracy
  • Solve imaging problems and make adjustments to mechanical operation of device
  •   Set up printer according to established company guidelines, safety, and job requirements
  •   Print job maintaining optimum production rate, color density, registration, adhesion and quality standard within company and customer guidelines, and makes adjustments as required
  •   Print proof sheets, checks registration and color matches against job order, and secures supervisor's approval prior to production run
  •   Maintain continuous inspection of job specifications and quality throughout production run, collecting production run samples as required
  •   Block, stack, feed, cut, retrieve, and re-stack sheets and rolls
  •   Complete production records
  •   Ensure proper cleanliness of printer, cutter/router, work station, and immediate area
  •   Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on printer, cutter/router and other equipment
  •   Assist in the finishing and packaging of products
  •   Train others to operate printer and cutter/router

HEALTH & SAFETY

  •   At all times pay special attention to and promote workplace safety
  •   Ensure physical environment is kept clean

 

It may be necessary, due to exigencies that may arise, to perform duties other than those normally falling within your ambit.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3 O’level passes including Math and English
  • 3-year experience in a similar position
  • Minimum OPR of 70%
  • Minimum score of 3 in T&A for the past 2 years

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  •   Understand details and requirements on Job Tickets
  •   Stores Withdrawal preparation/ Stores Returns preparation
  •   Malfunction Report preparation
  •   Machine Repair Log
  •   Email /FTP(send and receive)
  •   PACE Data
  •   Good understanding of digital substrates
  • Understand digital ink systems
  • Daily Prepress/Production Report (Verbal, Written and/or via Email)

WORKING CONDITIONS

  •   Ability to work in a Factory environment with the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  •   Shift Environment; a graveyard shift may be required
  •   Overtime is required and working on weekends is required occasionally

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  •   Lifting, loading and offloading stock (paper, ink, rolls)
